Work Opportunity Tax Credit

With goals of providing great, sustainable jobs to all Michigan citizens and helping employers to find qualified and often un-tapped talent pools to fill positions, the Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) is a key resource for employers and job seekers.

This federal credit is available to private for-profit employers who hire from specific targeted groups of people that have in the past experienced difficulty in securing employment.

Work Opportunity target groups include:

  • Long Term TANF recipients
  • Short Term TANF Recipients
  • Designated Community Residents
  • Qualified veterans
  • Food stamp recipients SNAP
  • Vocational rehabilitation work plan participants
  • SSI recipients
  • Ex-felons
  • The long-term unemployed
