Overview

Introduce staff to the principles of federal, state, and local policymaking and establish a framework for policy development and implementation. This training is for staff that write and implement policy, typically at a management level.

Training Objectives

  • Introduce staff to the principles of federal, state, and local policymaking.

  • Establish a framework for policy development and implementation. Policy Process 101.

  • Identify who has authority to make policy and when, and when does an MWA have to implement policy.

  • Improve staff abilities to review policy to recognize challenges during the external comment period. 

  • Develop confidence and strength in the concepts of "local control" and "one voice."

  • Identify policy stakeholders and who should be included in policy development, and control for unintended consequences from policy.

Cancellation Policy
