This presentation explores how recent Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I) policies at the national level may influence organizational approaches to recruiting and supporting employees with disabilities. We will discuss how to effectively connect with individuals with disabilities so you’re maximizing your recruiting potential.

Well also discuss creative ways to accommodate those individuals with substance abuse–related disabilities—balancing compliance, compassion, and workplace safety. We will discuss practical strategies that help employers meet legal obligations while supporting recovery, maintaining clear expectations, and fostering a respectful environment for all employees.

Navigating the accommodation conversation with employees and managers. What can be legally discussed and with whom it can be discussed with.

Finally, we will highlight how Michigan Rehabilitation Services (MRS) supports businesses regardless of whether a worker with a disability is involved. By assisting with injury prevention and early intervention, MRS offers resources that strengthen workforce participation, safety, and productivity. We’ll be joined by Haley Hudson from Connor Sports, who will discuss their experience with MRS, sharing how the relationship benefited their company.
